Y Combinator (YC), the San Francisco-based startup accelerator, is now accepting applications for its first-ever Spring 2025 batch. The deadline to apply is Feb 11, 2025, at 8 pm PT. Applicants will receive a response by March 12.
“If your application is promising, we will invite you to interview with us. Most interviews will be held by video conference in February and March,” said the startup accelerator in the announcement.

In September last year, Garry Tan, CEO and president of YC, announced that the startup accelerator was expanding to four batches a year. Traditionally, batches ran between June-September (Summer Batch) and January-April (Winter Batch), but 2024 onwards, it has added the Spring and Fall sessions.
Jared Friedman, a partner at Y Combinator, earlier shared the company’s motive behind this expansion. It would increase the access and availability of the YC community to more founders, decrease the batch size, and keep it more personalised.
“Previously, if you quit your job in June and wanted to start YC right away, you’d have to wait until January for the next batch,” he added.
YC also said, “In addition, the rate of change currently happening as a result of AI is causing more people to create startups, and we want to move fast to fund them.”
Founded in 2005, YC is one of the most sought-after places for entrepreneurs worldwide. Since then, YC has invested in over 4,500 companies, including Airbnb, Meesho, Zepto, Dropbox, Stripe, and Reddit. Since 2022, the startup accelerator’s standard deal has been to invest $500,000 in each selected startup.
YC also experienced a 45% increase in applications from India between the Winter 2020 and Winter 2022 batches. Some notable YC-backed Indian startups are FamPay, Khatabook, Drivezy Razorpay, and Groww. The YC24 batch was filled with Indian AI startups focused on LLMOps, AI agents, AI coding, and cybersecurity.
